Online Notepad – Free, Auto Save, Word Count & Dark Mode

A simple online notepad that saves your text automatically. Write or paste anything, close the tab, and your notes are still here when you come back. No login, no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded.

Is my text private?

Yes. Your notes are stored only in this browser using local storage. They are never sent to our server, so nobody else can read them. This also means your notes do not sync to other devices. On a shared or public computer, click Clear when you are done, or turn off Auto save.

Frequently asked questions

Does this notepad save automatically?

Yes. Your text is saved in your browser a moment after you stop typing, and again when you close the tab. The status bar shows "Saved".

Will my notes be there tomorrow?

Yes, as long as you use the same browser on the same device and do not clear your browsing data. Private or incognito windows delete the notes when you close them.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login and no sign-up. Open the page and start typing.

How do I count words in my text?

Type or paste your text. The word count, character count, sentence count and reading time update live at the bottom of the notepad.

Can I use it as a plain text editor?

Yes. The notepad only works with plain text. Pasted formatting is dropped, and the Remove formatting button also removes hidden characters and smart quotes.

How do I turn on dark mode?

Click Dark mode in the toolbar. The setting is remembered for the whole site.
